The Forest is a 2014 open-world first-person survival horror game in development by Endnight Games Ltd for Microsoft Windows computers. The game’s alpha version was released through Steam Early Access on May 30, 2014 and was fully released on 1 May, 2018.
In The Forest, you will play as a lone survivor of a passenger jet crash, you find yourself in a mysterious forest battling to stay alive against cannibalistic mutants. Build, explore, survive in this terrifying first person survival horror simulator.

2) Run using The ForestTheForest.exe

Nope, you just need to download the newest… we just didnt delete the other for reference…
but when I downloaded the AlphaV0.01 it didn’t have an application which helped me run the game.
But when I downloaded the 1st one it had an application

You will need to Extract TPTB-TFEA.001 to your desired folder using 7-Zip 9.20 or WinRAR then you will find the exe file. where you can play the game…

I extracted the file using 7-zip and I played it but all that comes up is a grey screen with disappearing numbers at the bottom

Yes.
I have tested “The Forest Early Access Alpha v0.01b Hotfix2” and as far as I know it is working once extracted and run the TheForest.exe as admin…
Please make sure you have meet the system requirements and excluded the files from your anti virus when extracting.
“Crack will sometimes show up as a false positive, make sure your Anti-Virus software hasn’t blocked it!”
how do I stop my anti virus from blocking it

Right click then disable or just identify your antivirus software and then search google.com “how to exclude files on your antivirus” to know the answer…

Make sure you have downloaded = The Forest Public Alpha v0.03 Build 20140701
Make sure you meet the system requirements
If you have old version uninstall it (or delete). Try to turn of you anti-virus before you unRAR/UnZip the game (some antivirus detects cracks as positive, but do not worry it is false positive). If you still have problem the best way to fix is to run it as administrator
