FTL: Faster Than Light is a real-time strategy video game (top-down) developed and published by Subset Games. Faster Than Light was released in September 14, 2012 for Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux.

In FTL: Faster Than Light, the player controls the crew of a spacecraft, holding critical information to be delivered in various fields allied fleet away and stalked by a large fleet of rebels. The player must guide the spacecraft in a number of areas, each with planetary systems and procedural events generated in a roguelike fashion while facing against insurgents and other hostile forces, recruiting new crews and equipment and upgrade their ships . Combat takes place in real time pausable, and if the ship has been destroyed or lost crew, the game ends on permadeath, which requires the player to restart.

In FTL you experience the atmosphere of running a spaceship trying to save the galaxy. It’s a dangerous mission, with every encounter presenting a unique challenge with multiple solutions. What will you do if a heavy missile barrage shuts down your shields? Reroute all power to the engines in an attempt to escape, power up additional weapons to blow your enemy out of the sky, or take the fight to them with a boarding party? This “spaceship simulation roguelike-like” allows you to take your ship and crew on an adventure through a randomly generated galaxy filled with glory and bitter defeat.
