About This Game
SimCity 2000 is a city building simulation video game co-developed by Will Wright and Fred Haslam of Maxis. It is the successor to SimCity Classic and was released for the Apple Macintosh personal computers in 1993, after which it was released in later years on other platforms such as the Sega Saturn and SNES game consoles in 1995 and the PlayStation in 1996.
The main external difference of SimCity 2000 from the predecessor SimCity — an isometric projection of the city. Buildings have become more visual and detailed – no more “FD” and “PD” on the roofs of buildings – now you can see fire engines near the fire station, and a law enforcement badge on the building of the police station.
In addition, the variety of buildings in the game has increased, new buildings have appeared (metro, hospitals, zoos), the option to assign names to buildings has been added. The city under construction became surrounded by other cities with which it is possible to conduct profitable trade.
At the same time, the main aspects of the previous part have been preserved in the game – the player still cannot directly control the development of residential, commercial and industrial buildings, limiting himself only to marking the territory for them. The desire of residents to build up the allocated zones depends on a combination of factors – energy and water supply, crime in the area, the ratio of the number of buildings of other types and other reasons.
